Parents see Early Years ICT in action

Lots of parents took the chance to come to our Early Years coffee morning last Friday to learn more about how younger children are introduced to ICT and the activities they do.

Mr Bishop gave a short demonstration of what the children achieve higher up the school before concentrating his focus on the Early Years classes. He showed how specialist programs help develop skills and learning at the same time. He also explained that the Nursery children visit the ICT room to start becoming acquainted with the room and the equipment and that, by the time they are in Form 1 (Reception), they are using ICT to reinforce concepts they are learning in class.

Then all the parents went up to the ICT suite where children from Form 1 and Nursery were working on tasks on the computers. These two classes were selected to provide parents with a clear demonstration of the progress children make in ICT in the Early Years. Form 1 were working on an exercise to find the initial sounds of objects and learning to click and drag objects in the process. The Nursery class were colouring pictures using Clicker Paint and all were thrilled to have the chance to show their parents what they could achieve.
