132 shoe boxes donated to Christmas Smile appeal

Throughout the week, the collection of colourful Christmas-wrapped shoe boxes has been growing in our entrance hall and today we celebrated these donations from the children with a special assembly.
Three children from Form 1 showed the school their boxes and described some of the contents. One box box included toothbrush and toothpaste, hat and gloves, as well as a large packet of sweets. Then Ella from Form 5 also described why she had chosen the contents of her box, which included a hair brush and hair bands, a little bag and purse and other gifts.

The children watched a video from Smile International which described what happened to their boxes after collection from Russell House. The contents will all be checked before the boxes are packed in cartons and put in a lorry to be taken to Eastern Europe. They enjoyed watching children opening boxes in Kosovo and seeing the excitement and pleasure on their young faces.
Our boxes will be collected from school on Monday morning (November 7), so if you haven’t yet donated a box but would like to do so, it can be brought into school on Monday.
