Event reports:

Dad’s Night Out: The first whole school Dad’s night out was held in February and was a big success. The evening was hosted by the Angel family at the new Halfway House public house in Sevenoaks. Thank you to Simon Moseley for organising, to all the Dad’s for supporting the event and to all the Mum’s that coped with the sore heads the following day!
The PA Race Night:  This proved highly entertaining and raised £592 for the PA funds. The names of all the horses in the final race had a suspiciously strong school connection, including such handsome mares as Gascoigne’s Gangster, Harvey’s Hero, Galloping Goldring and Jester John. Parents were invited to bid to sponsor an individual horse in this race, as well as place their bets. All the horses attracted healthy support and Harvey’s Hero galloped in first, netting a healthy win for Lars Jebjerg. The £100 TriCast winnings went to Dawn Williams. Thank you to Sonia Powar and Tricia Munday for organizing such a successful event.
Christmas Fair: The school was transformed into a winter wonderland complete with Santa’s grotto, Christmas crafts and gifts, mince pies and more. There was even a giant inflatable maze at the entrance to the Russell Hall which proved great fun for many children, and of course the bearded man himself put in an appearance with an enticing collection of gifts. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to ensure the afternoon was such a success.

Quiz Night: Eight teams of parents and staff battled it out in a closely fought competition. Two teams came joint second within a point of the eventual winners, ‘Angels and Demons’, who won a case of wine. Even the losers received a prize consisting of quiz books to help them brush up their knowledge for next time! A fish and chip supper was served and a game of Heads & Tails got everyone up on their feet. Thanks to Andy and Dal for hosting the evening as well as all those who took part. Details of the money raised from the evening will appear on the thermometer in the conservatory soon.

Book and Bake Sale: A huge thank you to all who supported the Book and Bake Sale on October 14th. The quality book donations and truly scrumptious cakes raised a magnificent £249.65 towards the PA fundraising target.

Parents’ Association AGM: Parents and staff had the opportunity to chat over a glass of wine and some fantastic canapés provided by Mrs Du Preez, before the main business of the evening began. Chairman Andy Collings reflected on the wonderful year that has passed, with many great events and considerable donations the PA was able to present to the school for the benefit of the children. Accounts were presented, the new committee formed and plans were unveiled for the fundraising and social events for the year to come. A target to raise £8000 was set in order to assist with the planned upgrade of the IT facilities. Further details will be available in the minutes and through the new PA newsletter to be published shortly. The evening also allowed the introduction of new staff members, as well as informative talks regarding the successful Russell Rockets and LAMDA exams. Many thanks to all who were able to attend.
