Age: 3-4 years. Children move into Transition in the term they turn four. They spend two or three terms in Transition depending whether their birthday is towards the beginning or the end of the school year
Time: 8.40am – 12 noon
Number of sessions: Five mornings a week and afternoons as required
Afternoon sessions: Transition children can attend the afternoon group to 3.15pm, which takes place every day except Wednesday. If they have an older sibling at the school, they go to the waiting group and leave school at the same time as their brothers or sisters
Transition Teacher: Mrs Harvey, assisted by Mrs Leigh
Swimming: Children have swimming lessons on Wednesdays from 12.30pm to 1pm at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre. Children are collected from school and taken to the pool by their parent or carer.
On arriving each morning, children choose what they want to do using the planning board. There are lots of activities in the classroom including a computer, role-play area, toys and games, craftwork and more. The children have gym and music lessons with specialist teachers.
Children bring a piece of fruit to eat mid morning. They spend break on the front court with Form 1, which provides space for running and playing with hoops, balls and beanbags. Alternatively they go to the Little Paddock at the back of the school where there are lots of opportunities for investigative play.
On Fridays children take home a story bag or maths game to play with their families at the weekend.
