Glitter in the skies

It has been a pleasure to welcome Transition back to Russell House after the half term.

It was lovely to listen to the children talk all about their busy and adventure-filled holidays on Monday, full of trips to beautiful beaches, playing on the swings at the park, trick or treating and a well-earned rest. All of the children drew a picture of their favourite part of their holiday and had a go at copying the letters to write a sentence about their picture. It is lovely to see the children’s progress in drawing and letter formation from September!

The children were excited to learn all about Bonfire Night and particularly inquisitive about Guy Fawkes’ plot! We enjoyed watching an impressive fireworks display on the C-touch together and listened to hear all of the bangs and whizzes. Some children enjoyed creating Transition’s very own fireworks display on the ground in our outdoor area and mark making in the glitter and coloured sand. The children have made some fantastic fireworks paintings complete with plenty of glitter. We were also inspired to create a bonfire night piece of music, choosing different instruments and slowly building up how we used our instruments to crescendo in a very noisy fireworks display.

Our maths focus this week has been to recognise and order numbers. The children enjoyed working together to order number cards into a number line. Miss Keeling was very cheeky and kept taking away a number and the children had to work out which number was missing.
