Going round in circles
10 Jan 2025Welcome back to the Spring Term. How typical of the weather to snow on the first week back! The children, however, have not let the cold freeze their interests and have had lots of fun learning new things in their lessons.
Some of the highlights in school this week have included the introduction of a creative writing competition in English and the use of practical equipment in maths. In English, Mrs Reay has added to Google Classroom, the chance to have a story published. Introduced in assembly, the children have been invited to enter a competition run by IAPS and ISA, involving writing a story on the theme of light. Lots of children have already made a start and have a further three weeks to continue their work before the hand-in deadline. Good luck to all those that enter.
In maths lessons, the children have begun to learn more about circles, a topic that will branch off into many other areas of maths as the term progresses. This week’s work included labelling the parts of a circle, as well as using compasses to draw them accurately and tape measures to gain accurate measurements of circular objects.
