If the walls could talk

During Form Time this week, children have been allocated their roles as helpers in Robins and Nursery, as well as in the library as this year's librarians.

Clubs have also started, so the children are now in full swing during break time and after school. The girls also took part in their first U10 hockey fixture of the year and they played with a goalkeeper for the first time, which was an exciting change!

In English, the children have been harnessing their creativity and starting to think more carefully about their use of words to create certain atmospheres. A wander around the school gave them food for thought in writing a poem called If the Walls Could Talk, where they captured the spirit of Russell House by personifying the very walls which surround us. They then moved onto speech and they had to turn direct speech into indirect speech and vice versa. Mrs Reay asked the class to find missing punctuation in sentences on the CTouch Board and the children had to use specific movements to represent the various punctuation. There were giggles and jovial faces all around as the children joined in together.
