Look at our tree
29 Nov 2024Christmas has truly arrived this week in Nursery, with our beautiful decorated Christmas tree!
The children were very excited and so busy choosing where to place all the decorations and we loved listening to them chatting to each other about which ones were their favourites.
We have been enjoying the story this week about Aliens Love Panta Claus and how the aliens helped Santa when his sleigh broke down. We talked about how we can all be helpful to each other and our families - the children have been very helpful this week by sweeping up the sand, tidying up the toys and helping each other find sticks up on the paddock.
There was a lot of sticky fun when we made alien slime with glue, activator, food colour and shaving foam. It was SO stretchy and the children loved feeling it in their hands and seeing how far they could stretch it.
The children made their own Christmas aliens by using different 2D shapes and googly eyes. They were fabulous at thinking and naming which shapes they needed for each of the body parts for the aliens. They loved looking at the Christmassy pictures on each of the shapes. The shape theme continued by pushing the pins into the 2D shapes on the pin board - fantastic for fine motor development and the children made some lovely coloured patterns with the pins too.
Exploring shapes continued with the children making shapes with the 2D shapes for the small-world vehicles. They were curious to make new shapes by using two triangles to make squares and to line up the rectangles to make a road for the vehicles. We also looked at shapes on the Ctouch board by matching 2D shapes to the shape monster. The children loved feeding the shapes to each of the monsters, talking about which shapes they were using.
There is great excitement for our Christmas play next week and the children have been singing their hearts out to all the songs. The children were very excited to try on their costumes for our play and were happy to play in them for most of the morning.
Our Special Leaf in Pre-Prep Assembly this week was for always sharing and being kind to friends - such an important part of our everyday learning together. It was lovely to sing happy birthday to one of our Nursery children too.
We made the most of the sunny weather on Tuesday and we went to have a play on the pirate ship on the paddock. The children had such a fabulous time inventing a game of the aliens coming and that all the pirates had to abandon the ship.
We are all looking forward to performing our Christmas play We Three Kings next week and the children are very excited to sing and perform in front of their mummies, daddies and extended family. It will be so lovely to see you all next Thursday and we hope that you are excited too!
