Record breakers
04 Oct 2024Assembly on Thursday was replaced with something a little unusual this week... a Guinness World Record attempt!
The children were excited to take part in the attempt for the largest ever poetry lesson. Amalgamating ideas from schools around the globe on the subject of Counting, poet Laura Mucha worked with the children to edit her rough draft into a polished, finished piece. We were excited to recognise some of the ideas we had submitted during our initial poetry lessons two weeks ago. There was an official Guinness World Record adjudicator present online and she will be collating the evidence over the next couple of days. In the meantime, you can read our collaborative poem.
Our linguistic skills were also put to good use in Speech, where members of this club have been working hard over a number of sessions to produce their own raps. After taking inspiration from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme tune, the children were allowed to rap about anything that they liked. Amongst others, topics included food and grannies! On Tuesday, Mrs Reay came into the club to judge which effort was the best and our congratulations go to Edward and Sammy, who proved victorious.
There were also a few sporting highlights this week, including both boys and girls teams representing the school at tournaments. Despite the results not going our way, we were very proud of the way that they represented us. Find out about the latest sporting news by reading the match reports that the children have written.
