Robins are thankful

Our topics in Robins this week were Road Safety and Thanksgiving.

Our week started with our Monday visit to Mrs Tickner to collect our weekly shopping. Well, we certainly have lots of crumpet monsters as one of our Robins carried 4 packs of crumpets in her shopping bag. We then spoke about the different types of fruit and vegetables and counted how many peppers we bought. The Robins are such great eaters and it is wonderful to see how much they love their fruit and vegetable platter which we share during snack time. It really is such a lovely experience to try different foods whilst promoting communication and language when we share our weekly news from our Home/School Journals.

The children have enjoyed learning about road safety and we also learnt a new song with Mrs Sexton about holding hands with an adult to stay safe. Perhaps you could ask your child and hopefully they will share it with you.

Talk for Learning promoted lots of discussion surrounding the different types of vehicles on the road. Afterwards, the children enjoyed practising walking across the chalk road on the zebra crossing. There was also a 20mph sign and I am pleased to share that the Robins were fantastic drivers and they did in fact practise safe, sensible driving and there was no speeding!

The children liked watching a CBeebies video with Mo which was all about staying safe near roads. We also learnt about stop, look and listen.
