Taking to the stage

It’s been a show biz week in school!

We started off the week being treated with the Form 3 Christmas performance. Transition sat very well throughout and were mesmerised by their dazzling performance. We all loved the fantastic singing and felt very sorry for the gnomes who never got chosen to help Santa out. The children were full of excitement afterwards, ahead of their turn the following day.

Tuesday was a very exciting day as we, firstly, got to watch Nursery and Robin's Christmas performances who did absolutely brilliantly. We were very proud of them and gave them a huge round of applause. Then it was our big moment! The children were very excited to put their costumes on and have their turn on the stage for the dress rehearsal in front of the whole school! The children sang their hearts out and all said their lines confidently and clearly. We were all feeling very ready and excited to show the parents now!

Wednesday was such a special day for Transition, performing their Christmas play to all of their families who had come to watch. I am sure that you will all agree that the children were absolutely brilliant and all of their hardwork has paid off. I had the special job of narrating the Christmas play which meant I enjoyed the privilege of facing the audience and watching all of your faces light up, tear up and beam! I very much hope that you enjoyed the show. I felt so proud of them all and even had a tear in my eye as they sang their final song, thinking about how I will miss them all in January.

The shows were not over yet though, as we got to watch Form 2’s Christmas play on Thursday afternoon in their dress rehearsal. Equally brilliant, we loved watching them perform and spotting our friends up on stage.

In between being superstars on stage, Transition have enjoyed some playing time in the classroom this week. We have been very busy being elves and wrapping presents in Santa’s workshop, working hard on decorating beautiful Christmas cards and creating baubles to add to your Christmas trees at home.

As we move into the last week at school before the Christmas holidays and my final week at Russell House, I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very restful and joyful Christmas period with your families. I wish you all the best in the New Year and will think of the children returning to school in January whilst in the sunshine Down Under!
