The sky isn't the limit

Form 6 have put on their creative caps this week, to write some metaphorical poetry.

Having looked at Miroslav Holub's mysterious poem, The Door, the class wrote their own pieces, using the metaphor of the door as opportunities in life. There are some very deep thinkers in Form 6 - perhaps the poetic philosophers of the future!

In humanities, Form 6 has been learning all about weather. This week, they have been creating diagrams to explain the different reasons why we get rain and the reasoning behind wind. We questioned, of course, why the UK has so much rain! The children have also been using Google Sheets to create climate graphs.

On Tuesday, the class experienced a trip inside the Planetarium, which was set up as a huge dome in the Russell Hall. Inside, the children started off by looking at the night sky and some constellations. They then chose to look at the Solar System. The children were very much the leaders of their learning and they specifically chose to find out about Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. They asked the most terrific questions, and they were all very keen to put their hand up and answer questions too. Mrs Carn was certainly impressed! What a fabulous experience it was for everyone.
