The weather

It has been a sunny week in Transition learning all about different weather and seasons in our theme this week.

The children have been very busy doing lots of different activities during their play including, matching items to the different weather types using pins and a corkboard, cutting and sticking to sort clothing into summer and winter, a very messy clouds and rain activity outside (with shaving foam and water), creating rainbow sticks by wrapping wool, experimenting with melting ice and creating wind and rain art! I feel tired just thinking about how much fun and creativity has been had in Transition this week!

Transition have continued their focus on careful counting by threading the correct number of raindrops onto our pipe cleaner rain clouds. We enjoyed a lovely carpet time, where Mrs Nelson showed us what a repeating pattern was. The children had lots of fun printing to create a repeating pattern on a winter scarf!

We watched an interesting video about the four seasons and noticed in particular the changing trees throughout the year. We noticed that most of the leaves on the trees at Russell House are still very green but some are beginning to turn orange and brown. We showed fantastic teamwork to create a whole class picture showing the trees in different seasons.

Always enjoying singing in Transition, we learnt a new song called 10 Little Raindrops and have been busy continuing to practise our songs for the Harvest Assembly.

Our letter sound for this week was n. The children blew me away with their hard work, thinking of words beginning with n. We thought of Mrs Nelson, Noah, no, nose and Nanny.

On Friday, we were very lucky to get to attend the Perform Drama Workshop in the Old Hall. All the children had so much fun pretending to go on an adventure. I think we definitely have some future actors and actresses in Transition!
