Who? Sutton Hoo
17 Jan 2025Form 4 became historians this week as they learned about Sutton Hoo.
They were given pictures of the various artefacts discovered there and had to think carefully about what they were used for and what they told us about the lives of the Anglo-Saxons. There were lots of interesting suggestions and, although they weren't always correct, they were all well-thought-out with sound reasoning behind them. They then had to use the evidence to decide who they think may have been the person in the burial mound.
In science, they have been learning about the different types of rocks, based on their formation.
They have also been tasked with designing an experiment to find out which rock is the hardest, so that they can let Mr McCarthy know which rock he should use for a Russell House statue.
In English, the children are focusing on writing a non-chronological report and in maths, they have been consolidating their knowledge of addition and subtraction.
