Form 6 have been conducting fascinating experiments in the lab.
In Science this week, Form 6 investigated how much energy was in different types of food - pasta, Doritos, biscuit, chocolate cake and sponge.
By safely using a Bunsen burner, the children heated a range of test tubes of water containing the food. The higher the change in temperature, the higher the level of fat in the food.
The children then burned the food to see which ignited fastest. Their conclusion was that Doritos held the highest concentration of fat of any of the foods.
Mrs Carn then demonstrated the danger of flour mills by igniting the highly combustible flour that was flowing through the air. The children were suitably impressed!
