Sport report: Football

Our players report on recent matches versus Solefield and Hazelwood.

U10/11A v Solefield: On Wednesday it was a wet and windy day. We had recently lost to Solefield at a tournament, so we knew this was going to be a tough match. It ended 2-2 with an unfortunate own goal by the Solefield team and a left-footed strike from Charlie to draw us level. We defended well but conceded 2 goals from corners. William F was very strong at the back and was voted as the team's player of the match for his all-round performance. A draw was a fair result with some good flashes of football from both teams in difficult conditions. Arthur
U10/11B v Solefield: The score was 3-0 to Russell House and it was Felix and Oliver L who scored the goals. For both the first and second goals, Oliver L crossed the ball to Felix and he then shot it in. At half-time we were 2-0 in the lead. In the second half, Oliver L made an amazing run up the pitch, dribbled past the defenders and scored a fantastic goal. Everyone in our team was really happy. A special mention to the Solefield goalkeeper who saved many shots. I think our whole team is improving every week and learning to play better together. I wanted to mention how well the two defenders Henry D and Henry A did, and also Anders for making some good tackles. Kamran
U9 v Hazelwood: The match was not the best of our matches. Things did not quite click and it was a heavy loss in the end. Hazelwood were a very good opposition and were the better side. Player of the match was James, because he was a good defender and earned his place in the midfield. Hugo
U8 v Hazelwood: The final score was 1-2 to Hazelwood. Russell House played very well. Zach was strong in goal and Charlie was brilliant at defending. Kit was good at running down the wing. Rory did a great cross to me and I then scored. Jake booted the ball up the pitch which helped our defence. Henry was so close to scoring a goal, but the Hazelwood goalkeeper saved it. Noah worked well passing down the line. Louis kicked it into the box, but sadly the rest of the team could not get there in time to score. My man of the match is Zach, as he really held the scoreline with his role as goalkeeper. Arlo
