Sport report: Netball

Recent netball matches and tournament reports as written by Russell House players.

ISA Regional Championships: The Under 11 A team took part in the ISA Regional Netball Championships, which was held at Wellesley Haddon Dene school. We played five matches at the beginning in our group, winning them all. So after placing first in our group, we went on to play Radnor House in the quarter-finals. Then we advanced onto the semi-finals against The Mead. Our teamwork was amazing and our spacing was good which meant we could carry the ball down the court swiftly and quickly, so our shooters could have a shot. We were winning 3-1 at half time, but unfortunately we ended up losing this game. However, as we finished third it meant that we qualified to National Finals in March. Everybody made an impact on our achievement and we are really excited about going to National Finals at Rugby School!

U8/9A v Caterham Prep: We played Caterham away, the score was 9 - 2 to them but we played very well. Georgia and Georgie scored 1 goal each. Jessica got player of the match. I think next time we could try to jump to get the ball a little more, but otherwise we played very well. Georgia

U8/9B v Caterham Prep: Our passing was great and we all managed to catch the ball even when some of the taller girls were in the way. I couldn’t see much snatching of the netball so that might be something we all need to work on for next time. Tia was great at hitting the ball away and I could see some snatching from her! Amelia was the girl who scored our goal. Hermione had many attempts at shooting and she almost scored. I think it’s safe to say that we all definitely did very well! Mia

U8/9C v Caterham Prep: We had a very good game. We won 3-1. Zoey scored 2 goals and Jessica scored 1 goal. At the start, we could have worked a bit more on marking our partners, but towards the end we were brilliant! We all worked together as a team and in the first quarter Isobel, Zoey and Catherine made a great effort at passing the ball to each other. Rosie was the player of the match because she had a great game. Well done girls! Isobel

U10/11C v Steephill: The U10 and U11 mixed C team played the U10 and U11 mixed B team from Steephill. We won 7-1. The goals were from Dakota, who scored 2 goals, and Isabelle who scored 5 goals, four of which were in a row! The well-deserved player of the match was Grace. She completely deserved it because of her non-stop interceptions and long passes that always went to the correct place. Maia had some wonderful passes and so did Clara. Niah also contributed a lot to getting the ball down the right way, to the D, and there were also a few great interceptions from Aimee. And not to forget Isabelle with her shooting, some of her shots were an incredible distance away from the net and they still went in! I think we could work on sticking with our players. I do think we played very well, considering we played their B team and it was a windy day which made shooting hard. Dakota

U10/11B v Steephill: The B team played Steephill in netball. The score in the end was 7-3 to them. Our player of the match was Georgina. We had excellent shooting by Bella and Connie, superb saves by Amber and Nicole and amazing catches by Mia and Georgina. Everyone played brilliantly. Amber
