A gecko as a pet?
19 May 2023Form 4 have been busy composing during their music lessons this week.
They listened to a variety of African music for inspiration and then wrote their own pieces, using a graphic score to record their work. Some of the children also had a go at conducting to help keep everyone in time.
In maths, they have been answering word problems using all four number operations. They have found that the most difficult part is trying to decide exactly what calculation they need to answer the questions.
In English, they have begun planning a piece of persuasive writing. The children have been given a free choice of topic and they have chosen a diverse range of topics such as 'why homework should be banned' and 'why I need a gecko for a pet'!
In humanities, the children took advantage of the good weather and had a go at designing their own rangoli patterns at the front door of the classroom, like Hindus do for the festival of Diwali. They have also had a lot of fun experimenting with elastic bands in science.
