Form 6 have trying to discover just how long it would take to count to a million.

Form 6 have been checking their understanding of very large numbers beyond millions. For example, just what is meant by a billion, trillion, googol, googolplex and finally a googolplexian?

The question we all want the answer to is, how long would it take to count up to a million? Counting to a hundred took some of the children anything from around 90 seconds to 140 seconds.

After various calculations on the computer we discovered it would take 157 days to count to a million.

However, it was suggested this simply is not true as it takes a lot longer to say nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine than it does to say one, two, three, four. In any case, why would you want to count to a million?
