Building for the future

Form 3 went on a materials hunt and a shopping trip this week, and even dreamt of architecture of the future.

In maths this week the children have been learning about symmetry, position and direction and fractions. They programmed Beebots to go forwards, backwards, left, right, clockwise and anti-clockwise to reach the island on a map.

In science the children went on a materials hunt.  They explored the Russell House grounds to find what materials the buildings were made from.  They had to decide if they were manufactured materials or natural.  They then became architects and designed a building of the future thinking carefully about the materials they would use.

In humanities the children went shopping to an Aztec marketplace.  They were only allowed to purchase items available during the time of The Aztecs.
