Pre-Prep

Ages 2 - 5

Pre-Prep

Our Pre-Prep classes are busy and fun, providing the best possible start for your child's education. Children join Russell Robins at the age of 2 and progress through Nursery, Transition and Form 1, before moving into the Main School.

These years are very important in children's development as core skills and attitudes to learning are established that will take children on to success in the future.

Key to our approach in the Pre-Prep is not just what we teach, but how we teach it. Activities are underpinned by solid educational principles and rigour to provide a clear progression of skill and knowledge development. In addition, our teaching methods incorporate key characteristics of effective learning: play and exploring, active learning and creating and thinking critically.

We have found the Pre-Prep absolutely wonderful. The level of care and knowledge of all the children is outstanding.

Children benefit from our warm, family atmosphere in which they feel confident and safe. It's the perfect environment to develop happy, independent, well-rounded children.

All our Pre-Prep classrooms enable the children to move freely and safely between the indoor and outdoor space, adding an extra dimension to their learning - and their love of school.

  • Individual Learner

    Independence

Children grow in independence by taking responsibility for their academic work and for their own belongings. The discipline of completing homework assignments by a deadline, of keeping notes in their contact books and of communicating problems to teachers are important steps in the process of becoming effective learners.

  • Happy Learner

    Enjoyment

Happy children learn. Our Pre-Prep classes are happy, friendly and fun. They start with our Russell Robins at age 2 and continue through Nursery, Transition and Reception. These classes were described as Outstanding across every category.

  • Exceptional achievement

    Success

By encouraging children to join in and aim high from an early age, we see exceptional levels of achievement in every aspect of school life. The success of our approach is plain to see in our track record for the 11-plus exam and in independent school entry examinations at 11.

  • Friendly, family environment

    Confidence

We are proud of our reputation as a warm, caring family school. It’s a reputation which has been built on the friendly attitude of our staff, their shared knowledge about the families in the school, our systems of communication and our insistence on pupils displaying the same care to each other that is modelled by their teachers.

Arrange a Visit

We take pride in our focus on each child as an individual at our school. That's why we invite all parents interested in Russell House to arrange a personal visit to enjoy a tour followed by a meeting with our Headmaster.
