Reports on recent matches and tournaments, as written by Russell House players.

Football

U8 v Hazelwood: It was a good match, but we were a little too strong for the opposition. Harry, William, Anthony and Theo were on the scoresheet. Euan played in goal later in the match and made a great save whilst Eloi and Rowan got stuck in when defending. Theo and Anthony deserved man of the match. William

U8/9 v Hazelwood: We won 4-0. Finlay played very good in goal, Markus and Ben were very good at passing, Lucas was really good at dribbling and everyone played very well. Player of the match was Freddie and Louis as they scored a brace of goals each. Louis

U9 v Hazelwood: The U9 match against Hazelwood ended in victory for Russell House, with a score of 3 goals to 2. Hazelwood played a great attack, but Noah and Zach were brilliant goalkeepers, stopping several of the opposing team from scoring. Kit and Arlo shot some great goals, leading us to a win. Kit was named player of the match for his performance. Theo

U10/11A Triangular tournament: Today we played a triangular tournament where Russell House’s A team played two games. The first was against Solefield and, even though we tried hard, we sadly lost this match 1-0. The second game was against Sevenoaks Prep and was a different story. Everyone in the team played really well with some beautiful passes and tackling. We won the match 6-0. Our goalkeeper made some excellent saves and the goalscorers were Hugo, who scored 2, Kamran who scored 1 and Freddy scored a hat-trick and got 3 goals. Overall, we won the tournament by goal difference. We are playing much better together than at the start of the season and improving every week. I’m really proud of us. Kamran

Hockey

U10/11 v St Michael's: We had an amazing match, we won 12-1 against St Michael's! I scored 4 goals and so did Aimee, then Izzy scored 2 and Jessica and Hermione both scored 1 goal each. The match tea was so good. We all tried very hard in the match and the player of the match was awarded to me! We all worked together and did our best. Isobel

U10 v St Michael's: Today our U10 hockey team played against St Michael's and lost. There were a few injuries, but we did not give up. We had so many near misses in the D and we came back after half-time much stronger, with the score in the second half 2-1. Catherine was player of the match but Sophie scored the goal. It was very fun. Catherine

U9A v Hazelwood: Following on from last week's tournament, we played away at Hazelwood winning 3-0. We started with a very strong defence. Lottie, Amelie and Rosie made some good tackles and Zoey worked hard to keep the ball in play. We spread ourselves well around the pitch and our passing has really improved. Annabel scored our first goal. We kept the pressure in the second half and Jessica scored two more amazing goals. Annabel won player of the match. We hope to carry on our success through the season and bring the same energy to our future matches. Anya

U9B v Hazelwood: The score was 1-1 and it was such a close game! Everyone played well and Isabella scored a goal. I hope we win the next match. Isabella, Bella, Lucy, Imogen and Alba did some great tackling and Clara, Alba and Imogen did great defending. We were very good at taking our free passes quickly. Isabella was our player of the match. Isabella

U8 v Hazelwood: The score was 2-4 to Hazelwood. Bluebell and Isabelle scored. Bluebell was player of the match. Isla did some good defending. Parents were there cheering for us. The match tea was very good. Jessie

U11 Tournament at Sutton Valence: We played at Sutton Valence against several very tricky teams. Although we didn't win, we played very well and we didn't give up. Georgie, who was the youngest player there, was one of the best. Even though she wasn't feeling the best, she played very well. Clara's goalkeeping was amazing. Many people tried to score against her, but she saved them, only letting in a few goals throughout the whole tournament. It was a slight disadvantage that we didn't have any subs but everyone played their best. Isla

U11 IAPS Regional Qualifier: We attended the IAPS hockey tournament at Haileybury College. Everyone was very nervous, including George and me, even though we had been before. The one player who I think did the best throughout the tournament was Clara because she was goalkeeper and she saved so many attempts at goal. In the end, we came third in the Bowl competition and I think everyone played their very best, even when we were losing. As captain, I tried to keep them going and the team was very positive. Isla
