Sport report: Netball

Sport reports of recent matches.

U10/11B v King's Rochester: We played well in our match against King's Rochester and we beat them 6 - 3. It was a great game and we played brilliantly. Aimee made some great interceptions and Isabelle did some great shooting. Overall, we really enjoyed our match and look forward to playing them again. Sophie

U9 Tournament at Royal Russell: We started the first match amazingly well and our passes were improving every time we played. We won all of our matches and only conceded 1 goal in the whole tournament. We were good at moving into space and passing very far, but remembering that the ball had to land in the centre third. Annabel, Jessica and Zoey were our star players but everyone did very well. The scores were: 12-0, 12-0, 11-0, 11-1. Rosie

U8, U9A & U9B v Sevenoaks Prep: On Thursday 7th March all of our U8s and U9s travelled to Sevenoaks Prep for some of our last netball matches this season. We played incredibly well and our U9As stormed to an impressive 12-0 win. Our U9Bs had a tougher match, which they lost 5-1 and our U8s went on to win their match, 3-1 after drawing 1-1 at half time. Well done, Russell House.

U8 v Walthamstow Hall: On March 14th, we played our final netball match of the season. Our U8s played Walthamstow Hall and what an exciting match it ended up being! We went 1-0 up and then Walthamstow Hall managed to score three goals, putting us 3-1 down. However, with some excellent defending and some very accurate shooting from Bluebell, we ended up scoring another two goals and bringing the game to a well-deserved 3-3 draw. Well done, girls.

U10 Tournament at Walthamstow Hall: On 13th March, our U10B team took part in a Bee Netball Tournament at Walthamstow Hall. We played very well and finished in an impressive 3rd place overall. We lost our first match against Walthamstow Hall, but then went on to beat Granville. We drew against Sevenoaks Prep and Kemsing and it ended up being a very close tournament.

ISA National Netball Finals: On Wednesday 13th March, a team of nine girls travelled to Kings High, Warwick, to take part in the ISA National Netball Finals. We qualified through from the Regional Championships last month and we were really excited to be competing at a National Final. We had a very early start, leaving school at 7am. Once we arrived, we got warmed up and we had to play our group matches. We were in a really tough group and we had to defend a lot. However, we didn't give up and we scored some excellent goals, which helped us to get some points. We finished 7th in our group and we then went through to the playoffs in the afternoon. We narrowly lost our first match, but then went on to win our final match 17-0, which meant that we finished 2nd in our playoff. A fantastic achievement for Russell House. Well done, girls!
