'Tour De Kent' for Demelza

Russell House staff are delighted to announce the tremendous success of their virtual Tour de Kent fundraising event held on 26 January 2026, in support of Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The team has raised over £3,900 towards their ambitious £5,000 target, laying strong foundations ahead of their next endurance challenge in June 2026. Inspired by the spirit of community and leading by example, Russell House staff took part in a full-day sponsored indoor cycling challenge, virtually circumnavigating the county of Kent on a Peloton bike stationed in the school’s front porch.

Participants and supporters rallied together to fundraise for Demelza, a charity dedicated to providing expert clinical, emotional, and practical support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families throughout Kent, South East London, and East Sussex. Participants and supporters were congratulated for their efforts in a video by Michael Owen which appears on Russell House's Instagram and Facebook Page

“With overwhelming support from colleagues, families, and the wider community, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far,” said Craig McCarthy, Russell House Headmaster. “We’re grateful for every donation received and for the encouragement shown throughout the challenge. This has brought us closer to our goal and inspired us as we prepare for our next event.”

The Virtual Tour de Kent marks the first of two major fundraising initiatives for Russell House this year. Looking ahead, a dedicated team of staff will be taking on the iconic Ben Nevis via the Càrn Mòr Dearg Arete in June 2026, which promises to be a rugged and thrilling ascent of Britain’s highest peak. Funds raised through both events will go directly to supporting Demelza’s vital work caring for children and their families. Supporters can follow progress and contribute via the dedicated JustGiving donations page.
