It's a wonderful life

A very BIG welcome to the Summer Term in Nursery! We are all looking forward to learning and playing together hopefully in some lovely summer sunshine. We welcome our new friends from Robins as well as welcoming back our big children to the Nursery class. We hope you all enjoyed your Easter break and are all ready for some fun times!

It was lovely to have all the Nursery children in on our first day back at school and everyone was excited to tell us what they have been doing in the holidays. The children enjoyed creating flower and leaf crowns to celebrate Earth Day which was on 22nd April. We also watched David Attenborough’s Wonderful Life on the interactive board, which shows amazing animals and different environments in our world.

The new children had fun making their handprints for our Nursery class display and there were some creative pictures made with the different colours on the easel. The children have been engaged in some beautiful imaginative play with the baby dolls and in the home corner, as well as making some delights for us with the play-dough. The children have been looking at numbers on the interactive board by carefully counting the underwater creatures and finding the correct numeral to represent each group of animals - we were all very excited to be given the chest of gold at the end!

The children enjoyed using the scissors to snip and cut the paper straws which were pinging all over the Nursery class on Thursday! There was also lots of great number recognition and counting to attach the pegs to the numbered paper plates - great for mathematical development and fine motor skills.

The children were super at listening to Mr Phil at our practice fire drill when they carefully listened to his instructions to follow him onto the playground into the correct place. Mr Phil was very impressed with all the children!

Finally, we celebrated a third birthday in Nursery this week! Happy birthday to our Nursery friend. We hope you had a lovely day!

We are eagerly waiting for the arrival of our baby caterpillars in time for our story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar next week. We can’t wait to meet them and watch them grow over the next few weeks.
