Pitch perfect

Form 7 were treated to performances from four of their classmates in music assembly this week, with two children singing, a performance on the piano and an entertaining piece on the drums. This provided a suitable warm-up ahead of next week’s Harvest Festival, where there will be more musical and poetic performances.

In lessons this week, the children have been using the knowledge that they have gained in humanities to create newspaper articles about the tragedy of the Titanic in English lessons. Imagining that they are writing just days after the disaster, the articles communicated the scale of the injustice and the potential blame, as the stories of the sinking filtered back from survivors.

In mathematics, the class have recapped area and perimeter, using tape measures, rulers and metre rules to accurately find the area and perimeter of rectangular shapes around the classroom.

In science, Form 7 continued their experiments and investigations around the refraction of light.

It has also been another week of tournaments for our children with many involved in the IAPS regional football tournament at Ashford Prep on Monday, where the team made it to the quarter-final stage; the netball tournament at Sutton Valence on Wednesday, where we finished 7th; and the cross country meet at Lingfield today. Congratulations to all who participated and represented the school in these events.
