The bus stop
16 May 2025Form 4 began the week by completing large division calculations using the bus stop method. They then progressed on to answering word problems, including questions with multiple steps.
They found that the trickiest part was working out which calculations they needed to use but they made good progress over the course of the week. There was also time to complete speed practice of their multiplication and division facts using Freckle, moving on afterwards to adaptive practice which automatically sets questions for each child's individual level.
In English, the children have completed their newspaper reports and have begun looking at persuasive writing. They are aiming to come up with a convincing piece of writing and have chosen topics as diverse as all families should have a dog and afternoon lessons should be sport only.
In humanities, the children have been learning about the key beliefs of Hinduism and some of the ways in which they worship. They have been looking at how forces can be balanced or unbalanced in science and the effect they have.
