The power of persuasion

Watch out, parents - your children are armed with persuasive techniques and they're not afraid to use them!

Over the past few weeks, Form 5 has been looking at persuasive letters and advertising. They created some outstanding posters advertising the much-maligned Brussels sprout, using celebrity endorsements (who knew Elton John was a fan?!), emotional ideas, too-good-to-be-true deals and catchy slogans. They then transferred some of their persuasive ideas into letters to Santa, telling him how overworked his poor elves are.  Flattery, rhetorical questions, powerful words and strong statistics are hard to argue with, so Form 5 thinks that the elves will definitely get a well-earned holiday this year. Elsewhere, in science, the children have been dissecting chicken wings to learn about how muscles work.
