We love books

What a wonderful time we have had in Nursery this week sharing favourite stories together and, of course, the highlight was dressing up as our favourite book characters!

There was a lot of sticky glue used to cover our huge George the Giant, who we made from one of our favourite stories of The Smartest Giant in Town. The children covered him in glue and then added collage to make his shirt, trousers, shoes, tie and hair - he looks absolutely fabulous hanging in the Nursery classroom!

It was so wonderful to see the children bringing in their favourite stories and reading them together with all the children. We love books in Nursery and it has been wonderful to share so many new stories with each other.
The children had to focus really hard when they completed their Book Character I Spy sheet by counting the different characters and the children all had a go at writing the numbers for how many of each character they found. In the garden, Nursery the children had to find different characters in books for the Book Scavenger hunt. They were amazing at finding the different stories and ticking them off on their sheets and thinking about which ones they still needed to find.

There was great excitement when we went to choose a surprise present for their special mummies from the Mother's Day stall. They carefully listened and chose which gift they would like to buy, with chocolate high on the list! They have also loved making gifts and cards in Nursery. There was lots of chatter about where they were going to hide the gifts until Sunday so we hope there is no peeping by you, mummies!

We have been busy creating some spring pictures and collage for Otford library, who have asked Nursery to bring in some work for them to display. The children designed their own butterflies, flowers and rainbows which we will take with us on Monday. Everyone is very welcome to come along, so if your child is not usually in Nursery on Monday, we would love to see you there between 9.30-10.30am for stories and activities.

We had a real treat on Thursday when Mr McCarthy came to read The Smartest Giant in Town to us. We loved listening all about George the Giant and we all joined in with the rhyming words too! Mr McCarthy loved our George the Giant too!

We have had lots of bubbly fun in the garden; first as a car wash and then washing the baby dolls, so lots of clean cars and babies this week! We have also had the Russell House Nursery builders doing repairs for us, so if you need any DIY done, we can help!

We had a visit from Form 2, who had borrowed some of our teddies to make waterproof hats for them. They were able to tell us all about how they had made the hats and even poured water on to see if they were waterproof. Thank you, Form 2, for the fantastic hats for the teddies.

Next week, we are looking forward to our trip to the library as well as the Easter Egg Hunt, when we are hoping that the Easter Bunny will be visiting and leaving us some chocolate goodies. Mrs Sayers and I would like to wish all you lovely mummies a very happy and special Mother's Day on Sunday.
