Collaborative and Creative

The fun Modroc Sculpture Art Workshop involved Forms 2, 3, 4, 5 and Art Club working together to create these four bright and brilliant animal sculptures of a pig, a horse, a cow and a sheep.

Modroc (or mod roc) is another name for plaster impregnated bandage, and it can be used to make sculpture by young and old (or just by anyone, really, who loves the messiness!)

First, Form 2 created the shapes of the bodies and heads with newspaper, cardboard, bags and sticky tape.

Next, Form 3 fashioned cardboard legs for the sculptures and attached these with a lot more sticky tape, which was also applied to the entire sculpture to strengthen it ahead of the Modroc application.

Forms 4 and 5 followed, with the tricky task of applying the plaster and badges in a way that smoothly covered the entire sculpture. This proved to be a challenging task, especially around pointy areas such as the ears and tails.
