Tigers love tea

There has been a very hungry tiger in Nursery, who has been trying to eat all our snacks every day this week!

There was a lovely aroma of coffee in Nursery when the children combined the tea, coffee and sugar lumps to make pots and cups of hot drinks for the tiger and plenty for myself and Mrs Sayers too of course! The children loved using the scissors to snip open the different flavours of tea bags and using their senses to guess which tea was best. We decided to make a shopping list for the tiger, so each of the children thought about what the tiger might like and they drew their food item onto a big shopping list. The tiger would certainly be pleased with all the suggestions!

There was also a tiger play-dough tea party when there were some delicious cakes and buns being made for the tiger, including strawberry cakes, rainbow cakes and chocolate cakes. The children looked at different animal patterns to create a wonderful patterned collage. We were very impressed with the children's knowledge of phonics when they listened to the initial sounds of the animals. There were lovely combinations of sandwiches made for the tiger, such as ham and jam and jam and cheese. The children showed great determination to butter and cut their sandwiches which they say they enjoyed eating at home. The children explored the orange and black paint to make patterns for the tiger and, needless to say, most of the paint ended up on the children's hands!

Outside, the children have loved building dens with the new kits and being very inventive of how to attach the ropes and attach the pegs to make it secure. We are sure that as the weather improves (fingers crossed), there will be more creative thinking of different dens to build.

The small amount of snow was enjoyed by throwing it into the water on the cover of the sandpit and some of the children had fun slipping and sliding on it on the climbing equipment. In the rain, the children had to make Peppa Pig muddy puddles to jump in and they also washed the cars in a car wash. A lot of very soggy and happy children!

Finally, the children have been busy making special things for some very special mummies in time for their special day.
