Our favourite things
28 Apr 2023Welcome back to the Summer Term in Russell Robins. We hope you enjoyed the Easter break and indulged in a few yummy chocolate eggs.
This week our topics were Settling In, Marvellous Me and Road Safety. Our new Robins are settling in well and it is lovely to see all the children playing together. Mr Phil and Mr Luke were very busy over the Easter break. Our class is looking a lot brighter, along with the new resources in our front garden. All the children (and adults) have enjoyed playing in our new sandpit. We now have our very own beach and the bench seating is fantastic for the children. There has been lots of imaginative play and lots of creativity in the new mud kitchen. The Robins have enjoyed exploring the oven and sink.
We started the week with a discussion about our favourite toys and the children then continued to add their favourite things onto a large A3 sheet. Cars were a fond favourite, which fed nicely into our next topic of Road Safety. The Robins were able to discuss the pictures on our Talk for Learning board. It was great listening to their answers, especially as they made connections to their car seats. We then watched a video on our CTOUCH about staying safe when crossing roads. The children were very pleased with their special Beep Beep Day stickers.
It was lovely to explore the school grounds and visit the lambs. One of the Robins spotted a cheeky lamb having a snooze on top of its mummy! On our way back, we ran through the wishing tree and enjoyed a nice play in the Long Garden.
On Thursday we made our famous banana cake. The Robins enjoyed making a delivery to Mrs Tickner, Mrs Parker and Mr McCarthy. As always, they were super impressed with our baking skills.
We ended the week with a fun and very energetic PE session in the Russell Hall. The children are looking forward to our Favourite Stories topic next week. Mr McCarthy will also be popping in to read us a story or two.
We hope you have a fabulous bank holiday weekend.
