A trip to Kent Life

This week was all about our trip to Kent Life.

The children wrote some school trip rules using modal verbs. They were very sensible and they thought of some great rules.

The trip to Kent Life was amazing! We arrived in plenty of time for our first workshop where we walked around looking and learning about all the farm animals. We then went and looked at all the different fruits and vegetables growing. It was fascinating and the children asked some excellent questions. Later on, we fed the sheep which was a wonderful experience for the children. After that it was snack time and then straight on to learn about the Victorian era. This was really fun and very educational. The children have decided that they would not like to work down the mines, in a factory, be a servant or sell on the street. The trip ended with a bumpy tractor ride and stroking the small animals in the cuddle corner. All in all, it was a fun-packed trip! I must also add how well Form 2 children behaved, showing exceptional manners as always. I felt very proud to be their teacher.

During maths, the children have been working on addition and subtraction using the column method. The work that the children are producing is phenomenal and they are all so hardworking. They are recording their work extremely neatly in their books.

In science this week, the children are working on noticing characteristics of plants. We talked about all the different plants that they had seen in the orchard at Kent Life. They named the parts of a plant and functions of each part.
