A camel called Humph

We are so proud of the nursery children this week after putting on two fantastic performances of our Humph the Camel play.

Everybody looked fabulous in their costumes and had big, loud singing voices. We have also enjoyed watching lots of other performances from our friends in Robins, Transition and Forms 1, 2 and 3! Please visit our Facebook Page for photos of all recent Christmas performances.

This week our story has been Stickman by Julia Donaldson, helping us to get into the Christmas spirit. We have decorated our tree, listened to lots of Christmas music and started lots of crafts, cards and decorations.

The children have all done very well at recalling the Stickman story and have enjoyed acting it out in small world set-ups. We have been using sticks to learn about maths too. We've been measuring, ordering and creating shapes out of sticks. The children have also been using materials and resources to create their own Stick people, working out what works best out of tape, string or glue.

In the story, Stickman is trying to get back to his family tree, so this week we have been creating our own family trees. The children all worked really hard to cut out their own leaves, draw each member of their family on them, then stick them on to their trees. They all did a great job of describing their family and drawing simple representations of them on the leaves.

When the weather wasn't nice, the children enjoyed staying in and doing some interactive dance videos, getting their bodies moving and their hearts racing. They also did a great job at cooling and calming down afterwards with some Christmas yoga.

Well done again, Nursery children, have a lovely weekend and see you all next week for our last few days before Christmas holidays. We're especially looking forward to our Grotto visit and party on Tuesday!
