A countryside castle

Form 5 enjoyed an exciting visit to Bodiam Castle this week as part of their humanities work on medieval Britain.

The children explored the castle and were able to see many of the features they have been learning about in the classroom, including the moat, towers, portcullis and murder holes. They particularly enjoyed climbing the spiral staircases to the top of the towers and taking in the views across the surrounding countryside.

Throughout the visit, the children thought carefully about how the castle was designed to protect its inhabitants and what life might have been like for the people who lived there. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life and the children represented the school brilliantly throughout the day.
