Spooky spiders
16 Oct 2026Another fantastic week full of learning in Nursery. We have been doing all things spooky and autumnal, ready for Halloween celebrations over the half-term.
We have been exploring new stories like Funnybones and Winnie the Witch, the children have then enjoyed acting out these stories in their roleplay and small world activities.
The children have also enjoyed a pumpkin sensory tray this week, exploring a range of sizes, shapes and colours, as well as finding the spooky spiders that have been hiding amongst them. The children have displayed great imagination with this open-ended activity, using the pumpkins as scarecrow heads.
This week, we have also made and tried some autumnal soup. The children used their small motor skills to peel and chop up onions, potatoes, carrots and sweet potatoes. To go with our soup, we also made hedgehog bread rolls!
The children enjoyed a drama workshop on Monday where they turned into superheroes to save planet Earth by recycling, reducing and reusing.
Our special leaf this week was awarded to a child who has shown lots of lovely creativity and imagination in his drawings recently, creating a beautiful drawing of a rocket with a ladder so they can climb up.
We hope you all enjoy our Coffee Morning performance and have a wonderful half-term break.
