All about bears
30 Jan 2026We have had another Goldilocks-filled week, and the children have explored a huge range of activities.
On Monday, we used our maths skills to sort the Three Bears' belongings correctly, using their sizes. In this activity we also had to do some cutting, supporting our fine motor skills. We also made some amazing banana and raisin cupcakes!
On Tuesday, we used scooping, tipping and pouring skills to feed the bears all of their porridge (before Goldilocks could gobble it up). Some of the children also learnt about winning, losing and taking turns in a Spider-Man card game of Pairs.
Wednesday was a super busy day. We started with gymnastics, getting ready for our Coffee Morning performance. Then to music, where we sang our favourite song, London Bridge is Falling Down. Followed by our Pre-Prep assembly where Form 2 taught us all about African animals and showed off their story writing skills. In assembly, the special leaf was awarded to one of our newest additions to Nursery for working really hard on becoming independent in all of his morning jobs and showing great persistence and skill when completing his work.
On Thursday, Nursery did a bit of acting in a Goldilocks puppet show! Each child had different characters and we acted out the story, adding in our own ideas as we went. We then discovered that baby bear had gone missing, so we had to search for her around the school, eventually finding her in the woods. Also, the children loved playing with our train-set and enjoyed exploring the zoo's small world. They showed great imagination, creating storylines and narratives for their figures.
Over the weekend, Nursery also had some very special visitors to our garden. Last Friday afternoon, we worked together with Transition class to create the perfect bird snack tray. We used all of our knowledge from previous learning to think about what the birds might want or need and added sticks, fluff, bread, blueberries, apple, biscuit, birdseed, mealworms and a little bowl of water. We placed it on a table in the garden and set up the camera. The children were so excited to discover we have two, very friendly robins who enjoyed the snacks so much, they now come to visit us when we play outside!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Next week we have our Perform Drama workshop and our story focus is The Worrysaurus and we'll be learning all about our emotions (and dinosaurs, of course!).
