Celebrating every day
12 Sep 2025We have had a super busy week in nursery! On Monday, it was National Literacy Day; we discussed our favourite stories, practised writing letters and completed our giant alphabet puzzle.
We have also enjoyed our music lessons where we played the xylophone and learnt a new song where we hold an enormous elasticated scrunchie and ping it into the middle of our circle, making us all giggle a lot!
Our story of the week has been The Colour Monster. All of the children have really enjoyed this new story and it has helped us to learn and talk about our emotions and how to manage them, as well as learning about colour mixing! We have created our own colour monsters using the pipettes to mix colours, listened to different genres of music and spoke about how they made us feel and decorated some biscuits in all the monster's different colours and sprinkles!
Although the children have enjoyed all of these activities, their favourite discovery this week has to have been the story of Peter and the Wolf. One of the children shared that they had watched this at home and wanted to share it with the class, so we have been watching clips of an orchestra and learning about the different instruments, what characters they represent and the story behind it.
Next week we will be starting Sign of the Week to learn different Makaton signs and we will be focussing on the story We're Going on a Bear Hunt, having school photos and going on our library trip! Have a lovely weekend!
