Chilly but cheerful
24 Jan 2025It has been another chilly week here at Russell House. Luckily, we have had lots of sporting fixtures to keep us warm, but if anybody catches a cold, the NHS are here to help!
On Monday, an NHS manager came to our school for a special assembly. After they recently celebrated their 75th anniversary, it was decided that any money raised from the Russell Wrens would be donated in order to allow the NHS to continue to deliver free healthcare to families, using their 6 C’s: Commitment, compassion, care, competence, courage and communication. An amazing total of over £750 was raised. Look out for the next fundraising efforts, which will be the bake sale, part of the Form 7 legacy project.
Many of our children have been involved in sporting fixtures this week, but a special mention should go to the Netball A Team, who competed so valiantly in their tournament at Sevenoaks School. Out of the ten schools competing, they made it to the semi-finals, where they were eventually defeated. A great effort! We also wish luck to Mrs Curling's gymnasts, who not only treated us to a sneaky peak of their routines in assembly on Thursday, but will also be competing in the Under 11 South East competition on Sunday.
On a final competitive note, well done to the children that took part in the General Knowledge National Quiz Championship heat on Thursday. One of our teams qualified outright for the semi-finals, whilst a second team is awaiting the results of the other heats.
