Christmas, commence!
05 Dec 2025It’s officially the most wonderful time of year in Transition as we have begun our Christmas activities this week!
We started off the week being treated with the Form 3 Christmas performance. Transition sat very well throughout and were mesmerised by their dazzling performance. The children were full of excitement afterwards, ahead of their turn the following day.
Tuesday was a very exciting day as we got to watch Nursery's and Robin's Christmas performances, which they did absolutely brilliantly. We were very proud of them and gave them a huge round of applause. Then it was our big moment! The children were very excited to put their costumes on and have their turn on the stage for the dress rehearsal in front of the whole School! The children sang their hearts out and all said their lines confidently and clearly. We were all feeling very ready and excited to show the parents now!

Wednesday was such a special day for Transition, performing their Christmas play to all of their families who had come to watch. I am sure that you will all agree that the children were absolutely brilliant and all of their hard work has paid off. I had the special job of narrating the Christmas play, which meant I enjoyed the privilege of facing the audience and watching all of your faces light up and beam! I very much hope that you enjoyed the show. I felt so proud of the fantastic performance they delivered.
The shows were not over yet though, as we got to watch Form 2’s Christmas play on Thursday afternoon in their dress rehearsal. We loved watching them perform and spotting our friends up on stage.
In between being superstars on stage and in the audience, Transition have enjoyed some playing time in the classroom this week. Together, we read The Gingerbread Man. The children were excellent at remembering each of the characters who chased after the gingerbread man, in the right order! We then worked together to create a gingerbread man scene in the small world area and we added a little bit of snow for some Christmas magic. The children decided to add a train track to our village too, to help the gingerbread man to escape. During their play, some of the children explored careful counting, as they added the correct number of buttons to each gingerbread man. We also enjoyed using craft materials and other loose parts to decorate and design our own gingerbread people as we made some transient art. The children were very imaginative, adding lots of detail to their gingerbread families, even adding some pets too. Some children also decided to build a fantastic bridge using wooden blocks, to help the Gingerbread man cross the river without talking to the sly fox.
We have also been learning about Advent and the children were very excited on Monday to open the first window and officially begin the countdown to Christmas! We decorated our own elves then practised our careful cutting as we cut them out and stuck them together, adding a picture of our own faces to finish them off.
To finish the week, we had a wonderful time decorating our classroom with our fantastic Christmas decorations. There were lots of ideas on where to put things and the children showed great teamwork to transform the classroom so that it is now full of festive cheer!
