Christmas songs
05 Dec 2025This week’s topic in Robins was Christmas Songs. Please visit our Facebook Page for photos of all recent Christmas performances.
The week started with Form 3’s rehearsal in the Russell Hall. The Robins sat beautifully and they enjoyed listening to the Christmas songs. Even our sensible Elf joined us and did such good sitting and good listening. He certainly models the right thing and is a great role model for the children.
After watching the rehearsal, we collected our groceries from the Russell Hall. There were lots of super strong muscles and lots of teamwork. Once back in class, the Robins enjoyed making Christmas cards for their families, along with 2026 calendars. The children enjoyed reusing old Christmas cards to make new ones. There were lots of varieties and each card was unique.
Our bikes received a Christmas makeover so lots of fun was had, driving the bikes around the school grounds. As a special treat, each child chose a cuddly toy to pop in their basket. They then enjoyed riding them around, before stopping off on the bench for an afternoon picnic.
This week’s cooking activities consisted of Christmas biscuits, garlic and rosemary focaccia bread, orange drizzle cakes and cookies. The focaccia bread smelt amazing and we all sat together to try a little bit before taking it home. Christmas cupcakes were also made for our tea party which followed our Christmas Concert.
It was great to see so many families during our Christmas Concert and Party and the atmosphere was AMAZING! The children looked very festive in their Christmas jumpers and it was lovely to see so many families wearing Christmas jumpers, too. We hope you all enjoyed the children’s singing and actions and Miss Ruby and I think they all did such an amazing job.
I introduced an advent calendar to the children but rather than taking something, the children added a picture to the traditional nativity scene. They enjoyed adding the pictures to the scene and there was some very good counting. The children made connections between the calendar and our Christmas story which I read during the concert.
Many birds have visited our feeding station and we have a regular magpie that likes to peck at the suet balls. The children were able to identify a variety of birds which were: blue tits, robins and pigeons.
Elvis the Elf has enjoyed his last week with us. The Robins played with him in the sand, ate snacks with him and took him for plenty of walks.
Next week’s topic is Christmas and we have lots of fun activities planned. Your child is welcome to bring in something from home linked to our topic or one of their favourite things (just not too big!). It will be our last week with Elvis the Elf as he will leave us to rejoin Father Christmas… just in time for the big day! It will also be the last week for some of our Robins as they leave their nest to fly to Nursery for their next adventure. It has been a pleasure watching them grow and blossom during their time with us.
Have a lovely Christmas break.
