Hit the button
02 May 2025In Maths, pupils have been enjoying using the interactive whiteboard game Hit the Button to practise and improve their recall of multiplication facts, with a particular focus on the 7 and 12 times tables.
The competitive and timed format of the game is always a class pleaser. It encourages quick thinking and builds their fluency. It has been great to see how motivated and enthusiastic the children are to beat their previous scores while developing essential mental maths skills.
Elsewhere, in humanities, the class has started an engaging new topic on the Tudors. They have been exploring key events that shaped this period, including the Hundred Years War and the War of the Roses. As part of their learning, they have also been introduced to several of the English monarchs, especially the different King Henrys. This has given them the perfect opportunity to apply their knowledge of Roman numerals in a real historical context, helping them to distinguish between monarchs like Henry VI, Henry VII and Henry VIII.
