In the news

Form 4 have begun looking at newspaper reports this week as part of their English lessons.

They thoroughly enjoyed looking at a range of newspapers and discussing articles that caught their eye. It was then time to discuss key features of the genre and devices used in the headlines to grab your attention. The children also looked for the 5Ws within the report (who, what, why, where, when) and discussed the mixture of fact and opinion within them. They are now having a go at writing their own articles.

In science, they carried out an experiment to find out if different magnets had different strengths. Their initial hypothesis of bigger being stronger was disproved as they counted up the number of paper clips various magnets could hold.

In maths, they have been measuring and calculating both area and perimeter, and in humanities they found out about some of the major Hindu gods and goddesses.
