Making change

Form 5 have continued to impress with their curiosity and enthusiasm across the curriculum.

In maths, Form 5 enjoyed this interactive task of calculating how much change is needed to return to a customer, as well as which coins they could give to make up the correct amount.

In humanities, they have been studying biomes as part of their Extreme Environments topic. The children have explored a range of ecosystems, from the icy Arctic tundra to the hot and humid rainforest, learning how animals and plants adapt to survive in such challenging conditions. Their growing knowledge has sparked some excellent class discussions and creative work.

This week, Form 5 also had the opportunity to attend the hustings for next year’s School Council. They listened carefully to the speeches given by their older peers and were full of praise for the candidates’ confidence and ideas. Inspired by what they saw, many of the children have already started thinking about what they might say in their own campaigns when they reach Form 6. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm and thoughtful reflection on how they would like to make a difference in school life.

In sport, it’s been another week of great success. The girls took part in an athletics competition against Kent College and represented the school brilliantly. Whether sprinting down the track, leaping in the long jump, or showing determination in longer-distance races, the girls gave it their all in extremely hot conditions and should be very proud of their achievements. The boys also added to their strong cricket season with another fantastic win, showing great teamwork, focus and sportsmanship throughout the match.
