Opening doors

The children in Form 6 have put on their creative caps this week, to write some metaphorical poetry.

Having looked at Miroslav Holub's mysterious poem, The Door, the class wrote their own pieces, using the metaphor of the door as opportunities in life. There are some very deep thinkers in Form 6, perhaps the poetic philosophers of the future! Scroll down to see some of the Form 6 poems below.

On Monday, Form 6 took part in an NSPCC workshop, which followed on from the interactive assembly last week.
We learned about all types of different abuse and what to do if we need help or if we know someone who might need help. We had a look at the website and if you have any concerns you can call and talk to a counsellor. We made chatterboxes and there were questions we had to answer. It was good fun!

In French, Form 6 children have been paired with a penpal in a school in Hardelot in France. Hardelot is twinned with Otford and it will be a great opportunity to practice and improve their French. They have now written their letters and we are hoping to send them out very soon. This is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, discover another culture and boost writing skills along the way.

We also had a Music Assembly this week and it was lovely to hear some Form 6 singers and another pupil on the piano. Well done to everyone who took part.

On Wednesday, the first round of the Quiz Club heats took place and we are delighted to announce that all teams have qualified through to the next round. Huge congratulations to the Form 6 children who took part and we wish them the very best in the next round.

Finally, good luck to our gymnasts who will be competing in the Milano Team Trio Regional Championships at the weekend.
