Pentominoes and perimeters

In maths lessons this week, Form 5 have been learning about area and perimeter.

After recapping some of the basics, we explored the world of pentominoes (shapes with an area of 5 squares) and managed to prove that despite having the same area, the perimeter of some shapes can sometimes be different.

Some Form 5 pupils also presented an assembly about Tessellation and the audience were very keen to get involved during the interactive questions session, which involved figuring out where photos of tessellation patterns were taken at Russell House.
