We have had another fun-filled week in Nursery! Our story this week has been Michael Recycle.
We began the week by becoming recycling superheroes, collecting litter and sorting it into the correct bins. On this theme of saving the planet and taking care of the environment, we have also each made our own planet Earth out of playdough, made some amazing sculptures in junk modelling, and have had lots of discussions about what we can do ourselves, like no being wasteful with food and water, picking up rubbish, recycling, and so on. We put these ideas into practice by making our own recycled paper! We used all of our scraps, cut and tore them up into tiny pieces, added water and cornflour and mixed until it started to turn to pulp.
This mixture was left overnight, until we strained it and rolled it out; hopefully once it has dried we will have our own paper!
We have also had a few celebrations again this week. On Tuesday we celebrated Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) by learning about what they do on this day to celebrate, and trying apples dipped in honey.
Wednesday was National Fitness Day, when we learnt all

about our body, and one child even let us draw around her and decorate her outline! We also celebrated the child who earned our special leaf for having beautiful manners and taking part in lots of new learning opportunities whilst having great recall of all that we had learnt.
Thursday was Modern Foreign Languages Day. We loved seeing everyone's outfits, learning about who they were representing, creating flags and we also learnt to say hello in lots of different languages.
The Nursery garden has become very autumnal and the children have loved playing in the crunchy leaves, looking at all the colours and seeing what bugs have been living outside.
We are looking forward to next week, where we will be reading Handa's Surprise to celebrate the start of Black History Month. We also have National Poetry Day on Thursday (2nd) and World Smile Day on Friday (3rd). Have a wonderful weekend!
