Right to vote
05 Jun 2026The main topic of conversation this week was the School Council Hustings.
The children are so excited and looking forward to next week's Hustings, which take place on Monday morning. Mr McCarthy's assembly on Wednesday was all about democracy and the children have also been asking lots of questions during Form Time about their votes in the School Council Elections.
It has also been Environmental Awareness Week. Meat free Monday was a big hit, with mac and cheese on the menu, and the children have also been given the task this year of being the most economically friendly class for the Hustings.
In their Houses, the children had 30 seconds to look at a scientific diagram, after which they had to go back with their group to try to draw what they could remember for a minute. Mrs Carn then judged whose diagram was the most accurate copy. Nightingale won!
The weather hasn't been on our side this week, but it hasn't stopped the children from reaching new heights in the high jump. For the first time, the children have been training with the brand-new high jump bar, which was kindly bought for us by the RHPA. It has added a whole new level of competition and the children cannot wait for the new mats to arrive too.
In humanities, Mr Plant set the children the challenge of showcasing their knowledge of rivers. The 3D models the children created are absolutely incredible. Well done to all the children for their outstanding efforts.
