Such great sports!
27 Jun 2025Wow, what a wonderful Sports Day! The children were absolutely amazing and all did the most fabulous races with big smiles while being cheered on by all our lovely spectators.
It is a huge achievement for them all to join in with the Transition and Form 1 children. Mrs Sayers and I are so proud of them all. A huge thank you to Mr Trigger and Mrs Curling for looking after us all so well and they both said how fantastic the Nursery children were. It was so lovely to see you all there cheering and clapping the children on. We held a wonderful medal ceremony back in the Nursery class and we are sure you agree they all deserve their medals. The children enjoyed quiet time after having a
BIG drink of water and eating their snacks, with a special ice lolly treat too! The children who went home after sports day enjoyed their lollies on Wednesday. The children chose to play with the Paw Patrol vehicles, do puzzles and draw on the white boards. We also all enjoyed a matching game called Cupcakes and a shape activity too.
We have all enjoyed our story this week of Bog Baby and the children loved making their own Bog Baby, using a soft blue pom pom. After some safety instructions from Mrs Sayers, she carefully helped them by putting on the sticky glue from the glue gun. We made the Bog Babies a beautiful pond to sit in next to our clay ladybirds. I am sure you agree that they look absolutely wonderful!
On Wednesday, after practising our songs, we headed up to The Farm to go pond dipping! We wondered whether we would find any Bog Babies with our nets. When we arrived, the children listened carefully to how they must be careful and gentle with the nets so as not to disturb the creatures too much. The children were excited to find water snails and a water boatman and a dragonfly and some caterpillars on the grasses in the pond. We searched and we searched but no bog babies could be found.
When we arrived back at Nursery, we made some bog baby homes using water, stones, shells and glass stones and we all agreed how wonderful they looked.
Our Special Leaf this week was for super remembering of all the creatures which we saw in the pond. She was able to tell everyone at Pre-Prep Assembly about the water snails and the dragonfly which we saw. As always, it is so lovely to see how the children learn by hands-on activities.
It was lovely to celebrate French Day and seeing all the children arrive at school in their red, white and blue outfits on Thursday. We had lots of fun at carpet time, learning some French words and talking about the Eiffel Tower and the capital city of Paris. Mrs Sayers and I were amazed that two of the children named the Eiffel Tower and that one of them had gone up it in an elevator with his dad! The children loved colouring in the petals of their French flower and listening to the names of the couleurs such as rouge, vert, and jaune. Some of the children created the French flag by using the red, white and blue pegs to make patterns on the boards. At lunchtime, we lined up to collect our delicious French lunches of baguette, tortilla crisps, carrot, cucumber and apple and took it to the paddock where we met the rest of Pre-Prep for a French picnic! We then enjoyed delicious vanilla ice-cream and biscuits for dessert.
Next week we are looking forward to reading our story Sharing a Shell to start getting into summer holiday mode with trips to the beach!
