Well-known stories
18 Sep 2026This week the children have been sharing their knowledge of well-known stories. We began with a small-world set up of The Three Little Pigs. The children enjoyed roleplaying the storyline with the figures and using resources like straw, sticks and bricks to try to build their own houses.
Similarly, we have been using stick puppets to act out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Some of the children were even putting on different voices for the different characters - what great imagination!
We have also started to learn about autumn and the changes in nature we might see with this autumnal change. We went on a windy walk around the school grounds to collect different natural resources to use in making some autumnal animals. The children noticed the leaves changing colours and falling off the trees. On the farm, we were even able to pull up and harvest one carrot.
Also fitting with our autumn theme, we have been practising our mark-making skills with sticks, brushes and our fingers in some sensory trays. They are all autumnal colours and include mini hedgehogs and pine cones, allowing the children to continue learning about the seasons whilst learning new skills.
On Wednesday this week, we had our Pre-Prep Assembly. Our theme was All About Us and the Nursery children did an amazing job sitting in front of the audience, singing songs and sharing their names, families and hobbies. Our special leaf was awarded to somebody who has been working really hard on coming to school with a big smile on their face and no tears - we are so proud of this progress!
A huge well done to all the Nursery children for all of their hard work this week, especially for being brave when sharing our assembly. Next week we are looking forward to it being Recycle Week, Modern Foreign Languages Day and we are having a dentist come to visit us! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
